Diagnosis: Female, previously referred to by the working title 'Her Heart is in the Right Place', is a documentary exploring women's experiences with healthcare. Written, Directed and Produced by Kate Teal-Spicer, as a creative component of her PhD at the University of Newcastle, Australia. The documentary follows several women's stories about their healthcare journey illustrating the difficulty and many hurdles women face in order to receive care and treatment. The project uses an ethics of care approach (a conceptual framework which focuses on improving communication and connection between people by using active listening, empathy, compassion and thinking from alternative perspectives) in order to better understand women's experiences within healthcare.
